All good other than that I am left wondering if US batteries have slightly different sized terminal posts.

Just got a pair of these for use in a solar system, they are working well and the output voltage has never dropped below 12.5V on load even after several hours use in the evenings (load varies from 1 amp to 5 amps depending on demand). They seem to be ideal for this kind of use. Will have to see how long they last, that will be the real test.
