Description

AVSPC400 Amber Valley Charge Guard Voltage Sensing Split Charge Device 12V 400A

Amber Valley Developments LLP Based in the UK, is an international speciality manufacturer of vehicle safety equipment. Amber Valley is one of the largest independent European manufacturers of reversing safety, vehicle battery and engine protection products in the commercial vehicle industry. They are constantly in the process of pioneering modern and innovative safety products which meet rigorous industry safety standards.

Operation: When the engine is running the device senses the voltage from the alternator and allows the battery to charge the auxiliary battery. When the voltage to the main battery drops the unit isolates and separates both batteries. This means the starting battery will always have enough power to start and the auxiliary battery will never be able to drain it. An essential unit especially where “intelligent” alternators are fitted.

This unit (AVSPC400) is the latest in the range of Charge Guards. It is designed for vehicles where extra equipment is being fitted on upgrade, i.e. ambulances and emergency vehicles. The AVSPC12 may have been adequate for original fitting but with the addition of upgraded equipment it is putting too much strain on the Charge Guard. The 400 amp version can cope with virtually all split charging requirements.

It is ideally suited for vehicles such as breakdown vehicles where there is a high requirement for power to run tyre changing machinery.

The relay is a double latching relay which draws zero current in either mode.
