The SFL110 solar battery has been designed to meet the needs of grid-assist solar storage banks.
The battery is designed to respond to grid demands and “dump” large amounts of current into a grid at peak demand. Standard traction or deep cycle batteries are unable to cope with this kind of high drain.
The battery is designed from a high CCA starter battery which gives it the ability to cope with the high current load.
The battery has three capacity ratings to illustrate how it performs under differing current loads:
The C5 rating shows how the battery would perform if discharged at 14 Amps constantly. At this load the battery would provide 14 Amps of current for 5 hours. A total of 70 Amp Hours (AH).
The C20 rating shows how it performs in accordance with EN50342-1 test conditions. At a constant load of 4.5 Amps this battery would supply current for 20 hours. A total of 90 Amp Hours (AH)
The C100 rating shows how the battery would perform if put it under a constant load of 1.1 Amps. At this load the battery would provide 1.1 Amps of current for 100 hours. A total of 110 Amp Hours (AH)
As this battery is designed primarily for high discharge rates, it does not have the cyclic performance of a dedicated deep-cycle battery. Dedicated deep cycle batteries are generally a lot more expensive due to the differing construction required to cope with prolonged deep-cycling.
This battery is also suitable for light leisure purposes in boats, caravans and campers where the annual usage is more inline with boating, camping and caravanning holidays. The battery can be charged through electric hook up on site or through solar panels. The cycle life of this battery is 3-8 years, based on 1 cycle per day and an average use of 3-8 weeks of holidaying per year.
